SMOKEBUSTERS PRIMARY SCHOOLSCHAMPS 2009 - PEMBROKE
There were clear, convincing victories with few surprises in the Smokebuster Crosscountry championships, held in excellent conditions at Pembroke. The finest performance was in the year 6 boys competition where Max Robin ran solidly from beginning to end to record a winning margin of 20 seconds over Tom Nightingale. It was good to see George Bates continue to improve as he came home comfortably in third place. The boys year 5 race was also won decisively by Edward Mason over fellow GIAAC runner Teddy Le Clerc. Amongst the year 3 boys the rivalry between Beechwood Boys Hugo Bisson and Joshua Pipe continued. This time Bisson won with a clear 8 second lead. Another Beechwood boy Tom Rihoy ran strongly to win the year 4 boys race by nearly 20 seconds. There were fewer girls competing but quality made up for quantity in their performances. Hannah English turned in an excellent performance to win the year 5 girls race easily whilst Rebecca Toll ran an excellent race to win the year 4 girls race 150 meters ahead of nearest rival, Sara Marley. Newcomer Katy Halliday won the year 3 girls competition.
