Please note that in addition to our outlined lessons we can also offer school assemblies and out of school activities. We have attended parents’ evenings, organised displays, helped with activities weeks and led sessions for out of school clubs. If you would like to book one of these sessions please do not hesitate to phone the office with your proposal. If it involves smoking and young people then it can involve GASP!!

Remember GASP is based on empowering young people with evidence that will enable them to make an informed decision. We are not the smoking police!!

When booking sessions:
1.    It is helpful if we are informed of the number of students expected at each session
2.    Please bring to our attention any particular needs of the young people involved.
3.    Please be aware that some topics may cause distress to students who have been affected in some way by a smoking related disease.

We rely on teacher discretion with regard to including these students in sessions. GASP sessions are designed to be delivered in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

To enhance this situation primary lessons begin within a Circle Time setting. Ideally Circle Time is recommended on chairs where possible. In particular our first Year six session requires a large working area such as the school hall (if possible).

We will bring our own resources but some sessions do require use of a DVD player - this will be stipulated on the outline of the session.

Most sessions last 45 mins to one hour, although we are flexible and will stay longer if a heated discussion is under way and the school time-table allows.  Similarly we are aware that some time-tables only allow for 30-35 mins. We strive to adapt our lessons to meet your class’s particular needs.

GASP sessions are continuously being updated to reflect current evidence and areas of concern. Consequently our activities and resources in some of the sessions may change.  We will strive to inform you if the theme or content changes.

We are always happy to receive your feedback on sessions and appreciate you completing our evaluation forms when requested.
