SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES
The effects of smoking on sexual, reproductive and child health. To learn a little more about what lung cancer and emphysema really mean. Also a look at the lung, what cancer looks like and what emphysema looks like. A member of staff from the service Quitline may attend or their work will be discussed by the GASP worker.
ACTIVITIES
SEX AND SMOKING
A powerpoint presentation looking at smoking and its effects on sexual, reproductive and child health.
QUIZ
The class is split into groups of 3-4 in order to complete a quiz. General discussion follows.
LUNG DISEASE
A look at the pig’s lungs to see how the lungs of a smoker differ from a non-smoker.
QUITLINE
An explanation of how addiction works and what young people can expect if they use the Quitline service.
Sometimes at this age group a more informal session is more effective. We are quite happy to come along with a range of resources and discuss all issues surrounding smoking and answer any questions.
