                Duration: 30 min – 1 hr

SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES
An introduction to smoking education.  Exploring what the children already know about smoking, answering any questions and dealing with any “myths” they have already developed.

ACTIVITIES

GOOD/BAD GAME
2 cards are placed in the centre of the circle: “Good Things About Being Smoke Free” and “Bad Things About Smoking”.  Each child has a smaller card. They must read the card out loud and decide where it should be placed.  This provides an opening for discussion and guidance from the rest of the group if necessary.

 

Bingo – the same terms are used in a class game of bingo.  The children are divided into groups of 2-4.  You can score a column, row or full house.

DISCUSSION, FINAL CIRCLE ROUND
While we do have a back up activity, the emphasis in this session is on discussion and giving the children a chance to say what they know and correcting any errors.
